School Picture Days are scheduled in both the Fall and Spring, and can be booked up to one year in advance. We work directly with your school to choose days that fit your school calendar and our current availability. Plan on sessions typically lasting a full school day.

Fall pictures are typically centered around clean, classic portraiture. In the Spring, we usually create more casual or themed pictures, as well as graduation portraits, or black and white portraits, if desired.

For schools with only one class, we will meet for circle time with all of the kids. During this time we take a couple of minutes to introduce ourselves and show them our camera and equipment. This helps them feel more comfortable about picture day. We will also take a "practice" picture of them on our mobile device that is later used for facial recognition when processing their pictures.

Following circle time, we will take each child's picture while the other kids are engaged in another activity. For larger schools with more than one class in the school at a time, we will repeat this process with each class on a rotational basis.

We highly recommend that parents NOT be present during school pictures. When parents are present, kids are typically less relaxed and it makes it difficult for us to get genuine expressions, as the child is distracted by their parents.

Rarely we'll have a child that we are unable to photograph due to their anxiety or mood that day. We are typically very successful at having fun and are able to encourage them to participate. However, we will not force them. If after 3-4 minutes the child is unable to participate, we will send them back to enjoy time with their class. Parents are welcome to bring them to the make-up date we offer each season at our studio.

Within two weeks following school picture day, parents or guardians will receive an email granting access to an exclusive online gallery designed to browse and place product orders. Print orders are mailed directly to the student's home. Schools are completely relieved of any involvement in money handling or order form processing.

Laurie Coleman Photography is fully licensed and insured. We prioritize the safety and security of our students and clients. Our insurance coverage not only protects our business but also provides peace of mind to our clients in the rare event of any unforeseen circumstances. If you have any specific concerns or need more details, feel free to ask.

We also refrain from publicly publishing student's portraits prior to purchase. Once a parent enters into an agreement to purchase digital files and/or prints, Laurie Coleman Photography retains the rights to use these images for marketing purposes. However, as a safety precaution, the child's name and school will never be disclosed.

In addition to individual school portraits, we offer complimentary staff portraits to support our school community.

For a separate fee, we can also provide specialized services such as group portraits, school branding, and event photography, which are available at a discount to our family of schools.
